Das Karussell / The Carousel (2022)

Die Intervention Karussell, ist eine ortsspezifische Installation, die im Zeitraum vom 24.10.2022 bis zum 15.12.2022 am Mainzer Hauptbahnhof West zu sehen war und durch den Kunstbeirat Mainz sowie die Kulturdezernentin ermöglicht wurde. Die Arbeit setzt sich mit der Formensprache von Jahrmärkten auseinander, welche als fantastische „Nicht-Orte“ von Standort zu Standort reisen und während ihrer Anwesenheit nicht nur zu einer optisch, sondern auch emotionalen Verwandlung im Alltag der Menschen führen. Ziel der Intervention ist es, den Durchgangsort Mainz Hauptbahnhof West in den Wahrnehmungen der Passant*innen dauerhaft zu transformieren und zu verzaubern.

The intervention carousel is a site-specific installation that was on view at Mainz Central Station West from October 24th, 2022 to December 15th, 2022 and was made possible by the Mainz Art Advisory Board and the head of the cultural department. The work deals with the formal language of fairs, which travel from location to location as fantastic "non-places" and during their presence lead not only to a visual but also to an emotional transformation in people's everyday lives. The aim of the intervention is to permanently transform and enchant the transit point Mainz Hauptbahnhof West in the perceptions of passers-by.
